Tom Verney was a choral scholar at St. John’s College, Cambridge, before completing the Opera Course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He made his début with Classical Opera singing the role of Aniceto in Jommelli’s Il Vologeso at Cadogan Hall in 2016. His operatic roles include L’Amfiparnaso (Vecchi) for Cambridge University, Athamas (Semele) for Hampstead Garden Opera, Testis 1 in Jonathan Miller’s production of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion at the National Theatre, Oberon (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) for Shadwell Opera in Cambridge, the Rosslyn Chapel (as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival), for Guildhall Opera in the Barbican Theatre and for a joint production with the Royal Scottish Conservatoire and Scottish Opera, The Voice of Apollo (Death in Venice) for Garsington Opera, Corrado (Vivaldi’s Griselda) for The Serse Trust, and L’Augellino (The Little Green Swallow) for British Youth Opera. Tom appears regularly on the concert platform. He has sung with the Dmitri Ensemble, and was a soloist on their recording of MacMillan’s Seven Last Words from the Cross.
