In 2012 Classical Opera launches a major new recording cycle of Mozart’s complete operas, in association with the award winning Linn Records, named Record Label of the Year at the 2010 Gramophone Awards, and Bärenreiter-Verlag, Kassel.

The first CD in the series, which will be released on 14 May 2012, will be of Mozart’s first opera, Apollo et Hyacinthus, written when the composer was eleven years old.

The outstanding cast features Lawrence Zazzo and Sophie Bevan in the title roles, with Klara Ek, Christopher Ainslie and Andrew Kennedy, accompanied by the vibrant period instruments of The Orchestra of Classical Opera and conducted by Ian Page.

To mark the launch of this CD, and the complete cycle, Classical Opera will be presenting two concert performances of Apollo et Hyacinthus, at St George’s, Bristol on 11 May 2012, and at Cadogan Hall, London on 14 May.
