In 2016 we explored the year 1766 with three events:

1766- a retrospective

19 January 2016, 7.30pm – Wigmore Hall, London

This concert included works by the ten year old Mozart, as well as his older contemporaries Jommelli, Guglielmi, Vanhal and Franz Ignaz Beck.

Jommelli: Il Vologeso

The concert performance of this outstanding opera by the Italian Niccolò Jommelli featured some of Classical Opera’s Associate Artists. The opera was originally premiered on 11 February 1766 for the Stuttgart court in Ludwigsburg. Read the reviews here and see some images in our explore section.

La Canterina

19 September 2016, 7.30pm – Wigmore Hall, London

Haydn’s short, two-act opera was the star of this programme, in an evening of music by Haydn and Myslivecek.
