Sophie Bevan wins 2012 Times Breakthrough Award

Congratulations to soprano Sophie Bevan, who has been awarded the prestigious Times Breakthrough Award at the 2012 South Bank Sky Arts Awards.

A former Classical Opera Associate Artist, Sophie’s many appearances with us have included Publio (UK premiere of Gluck’s La clemenza di Tito) at the Lufthansa Baroque Festival, Weltgeist (Die Schuldigkeit des ersten Gebots) at Wilton’s Music Hall and in Italy, Silvia (Ascanio in Alba) at Kings Place, retrospectives of Johann Christian Bach, Handel, Gluck and Haydn at Wigmore Hall, ‘The A-Z of Mozart Opera’ and ‘Haydn’s Brave New World’ at Kings Place, and our recordings of ‘Blessed Spirit – a Gluck retrospective’ and Mozart’s Apollo et Hyacinthus.

Sophie sings in our performance of Handel’s Messiah at Wigmore Hall on 23 December.
