Programme Notes

Our website offers the complete programme notes for all of the operas performed to date by the Classical Opera Company. Written by Artistic Director Ian Page, the notes provide a wealth of detail about the historic background of each opera, how it came to be written, the text, the music and the story act by act, including the arias. The page for each opera also contains the details of the Classical Opera production, as well as photographs of some of the performers. Visitors who prefer to read the notes in printed form can use a printer-friendly version to produce hard copy.

A separate page also lists all the concerts of classical music given by the Classical Opera Company, with details of the performers, the direction, the dates and locations of event.

Viewed as a whole, these pages give our website visitors a comprehensive view of what the company has achieved to date in bringing the classical music repertoire to a wide audience.

The Classical Opera Company is devoted to performing the works of Mozart and his contemporaries. .

Our period-instrument orchestra, the Orchestra of the Classical Opera Company, comprises some of the country's leading young musicians, and as well as playing for all our opera performances gives regular concerts throughout the year; the programmes of these concerts are often designed to explore music specifically related to each of our opera productions.

In all our work we hope to encourage our audiences towards a greater appreciation and love of classical music.
