The Classical Opera Company has established itself as one of the country’s most important and vibrant young musical organisations. It has also received widespread acclaim for the consistently high quality of its performances and for its inventive and imaginative programming. Over the past ten years, we have attracted a hugely supportive and enthusiastic following, and have created invaluable training and performance opportunities for an increasingly long and impressive list of singers and instrumentalists; the majority of our singers have subsequently appeared at Covent Garden and Glyndebourne, and many of our orchestral players have also benefited greatly from their work with us.

The company is now ideally poised to take advantage of the artistic platform that we have established, but we receive no public funding whatsoever, and are faced with the on-going challenge of raising the resources necessary to cover both our running costs and our artistic costs. In recent years we have made tremendous strides to make our business more viable, but the economics of high-quality opera are such that we will always be dependent on investment and patronage from enlightened supporters.

Without substantial investment, there is the possibility that we will not be able to continue and develop our important work. We are therefore looking for a group of high-level donors to join Vernon Ellis in the President’sCircle .This intimate group of core supporters will share a close involvement in the company’s work and enable the company to flourish both nationally and internationally.

Membership of the President’s Circle is £10,000 per annum. Donations qualify for higher-rate tax relief under the Gift Aid Scheme, which means that, in the tax year 2008/9, the net cost can be only 75% of the amount given.
